MP moves to resolve standoff in Bumbuna

Addressing the locals at the town’s court barray in Bumbuna town last Sunday March 30, 2014, Hon. Dr. Koroma appealed to the people to embark on peace drive which is the only option for the development of the chiefdom, without which there would be no development in the chiefdom, he stressed.
He also warned the people to stop back biting each other as it might create division among people, noting that those in authority should not allow themselves to be used and mislead into taking action on trivial issues.
He declared that his role as Member of Parliament is and would always be for peace and unity, making it crystal clear that he was not just representing Kalansogoaia Chiefdom in parliament but the entire constituency 066.
He warned his people to desist from creating misunderstanding between the Paramount Chief and Councilors as all of them are stakeholders in decision-making in the chiefdom.
Former Member of Parliament and Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, Haja Musu Kandeh, who was among the peace delegation, called on the people to remain united and stay focused for the common good of the chiefdom as the only place they can proudly call their home was Songoni with its natural beauty.
She maintained that as united people there would be meaningful and tangible development to the admiration of all and stressed that the peace mission which their association (KADA) has initiated is a process and during this period people are expected to be calm and accept the outcome of the association’s findings which is all geared towards building sustainable peace and harmony in the chiefdom.
Yabome Sesay, adviser to the President at State House urged the people of Songoni to respect any authority in the chiefdom and categorically condemned the lawlessness and lack of respect perpetuated against not only the Paramount Chief of the chiefdom but to the entire people of the chiefdom.
Other speakers at the gathering included lawyer Brima Koroma explained the intricacies of law and order which should be obeyed by all and sundry.
Paramount Chief Alimamy Bockarie Yellan Koroma, who was aggrieved over the lawless behavior of certain people of Songoni led by their former Section Chief, Brima Koroma also spoke at the occasion.
However, after lengthy deliberations on the issue of peace and reconciliation, it was agreed as resolution that before the Paramount Chief could accept any peace overtures the former section chief Brima Koroma and the Songoni Town Chief, Pa Sheku Kargbo both of who are on the run be first produced and stand before the chiefdom authorities and publicly apologize, concede and accept the elected Section Chief of Songoni Pa Dauda Dawoe.
This resolution was unanimously endorsed by the delegation and elders in the chiefdom.
