Deal exposed at Statistics Sierra Leone
Information reaching this paper states that the Public Relations Officer of Statistics Sierra Leone is alleged to have connived with certain correspondents in order to extort money from the accounts of Statistics Sierra Leone.
The report further states that some correspondents purporting to be reporters of Statistics Sierra Leone comprising of more than fifty journalists is believed to be a fake association aimed at benefiting only a few members.
It is further alleged that this misappropriation is in the full knowledge of the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Tejan Kabba, who is reported to be one of the brains and beneficiaries of the formation of the gloominess deal.
The source further revealed that this group is represented by only four journalists who have false names on their list on whose behalf they collect money.
The source also explained that this murky transaction through which certain individuals have been enriching themselves has been established with the active participation of the Public Relations Officer for quite a long time.
He stated that what is most disheartening is that these monies are donor funds which are given for specific projects in the country.
He explained that even the Statistician General, Mr. Mohamed King Koroma has not been able to discover whether this association is genuine but is always approving funds for the welfare of the group.
He also stated that the removal of the then Public Relations Officer, Mr. Borbor Mansaray, was because the Statistician General accused him of leaking information to journalists.
