Nasser Ayoub pleads with Constitutional Review Committee

The romantic and ruggedly handsome music star, Nasser Ayoub, has told Journalists that even though his right has been denied him by not granting him a Sierra Leone passport with the perception that he a Lebanese, has not gone down well in many well-meaning circles both in and out of the country.

Addressing newsmen at his establishment at Hotel Africanus, Congo Cross, Freetown, he maintained that he was very happy to announce that he is a native born of Kono although he left the district at the age of five.

Hammering home his salient points, the popular soul singer said both his mother and father are inhabitants of Sierra Leone, adding that his grandfather, the late Alhaji Ayoub who was remarkable for his Quranic knowledge, died in a road accident while travelling to Kono in the late 1970s.

He stated that he was pleading with the Constitutional Review Committee and the Government of Sierra Leone to look into the issue of citizenship. more especially for white coloured people of Sierra Leone descent.

Speaking on the area of music among Sierra Leonean artists, Mr. Nasser Ayoub disclosed that there has been a lot of happenings in the entertainment industry which Journalists are not commenting on.

He opined that it was necessary for newspapers to publicize the Piracy Act so that people will get enough education on its effects and punitive measures.

He urged the Sierra Leone Police to implement the law by arresting pirates of music and other works and charging them to court. He also cautioned the media to join forces and promote the local entertainment industry.

Giving a brief background about himself, the melodious vocalist said he started music two years ago and has produced single track “One Love,” followed by ‘’Dem nor know” a hit song that he sang with the female rapper Star Zero which he said was highly appreciated by the people of Sierra Leone. He also explained that he has also released a love song which preaches against discrimination, and “Nar Lie’’ which boomed in the country until he released his first solo ‘’Tranga yase Borbor’’ which topped the local charts for a very long time.
