PFEFFERMINZGREEN Constructs School At Rolal

Head of the German-based organization, PFEFFERMINZGREEN, Stella Rotenberge on Saturday 8th February, 2014 visited the school building project at Rolal, Mecca Section, Maforki Chiefdom in the Port Loko District sponsored by the organization to enhance education in that part of the country.  Rugiatu Neneh Turay and Stella Rotenberge at the construction site at Rolal

She disclosed that in Germany, education is open to all citizens and informed that she is satisfied with the fast pace at which construction work is going on.

The project is headed by the former Deputy Chairperson of the Port Loko District Council, Madam Rugiatu Neneh Turay, whom many described as an iron lady who is result-oriented.

According to Stella Rotenberge, the school project commenced in December 2013, appealed to Government to make education affordable to all citizens to contribute to the development of the country predicting that the next President may hail from the village, revealed that PFEFFERMINZGREEN would fund the construction of a pre-school and promised to visit the community again in November, 2014 with her family for the officially opening of the school.

She further observed that Sierra Leoneans are yearning for education and commended Madam Rugiatu Neneh Turay for her remarkable work and fast-tracking the project.

Stella Rotenberge also visited the safe home at Masethileh in Lunsar and the school at Mamusa for girls who escape being initiated into the secret female ‘Bondo’ Society.

The home is administered in collaboration with Amazonia Initiative Movement (AIM) with Madam Rugiatu Neneh Turay as the Chief Executive Officer.

Madam Rugiatu Neneh Turay commended the community for their relentless efforts to enhance the progress of the project disclosing that the building comprises five classrooms, toilets, a water well, staff room and assembly hall and lauded PFEFFERMINZGREEN for its support to education in the community reiterating that human resource is the key to the development of any nation.

Mecca Section Regent Chief, Pa Brima Sapeteh acclaimed Neneh Turay and her team from Germany made up of Stella Rotenberge and Gianluca Podda and for facilitating development in the community, urged parents to send their children to school and appealed to other well wishers and institutions to emulate the example.

According to Pa Brima Sapeteh, children in the community are exposed to a lot of danger and difficulties when they attend distant schools in Port Loko with the girl children getting pregnant.

Hassan Bangura of Rolal, who rendered the vote of thanks, disclosed that there is no pre-school in the section that has resulted to children walking long distances adding that the children start attending school at between seven and eight years of age for which she appealed to Madam Rugiatu Neneh Turay and team for the construction of a pre-school in the community.
