Police to retrieve misappropriated local tax money

Magburaka, Feb 5 (SLENA) – The Central Chiefdom Administration Clerk (CCAC) in the Tonkolili District has disclosed that the Crime Management Division of the Magburaka Police Station is helping the chiefdom administration to retrieve monies from certain authorities in the district who have squandered huge sums of local tax during the 2013 fiscal year.

Speaking to SLENA last week in Magburaka town on defaulting chiefdoms, Mr. Joseph Bangura said in the Class B chiefdom category, Sambaia Chiefdom collected a total thirty-three million, one hundred and eighty-five thousand leones (Le 33, 185,000) from six thousand, six hundred and thirty-seven (6,637) tax payers in that chiefdom to emerge first in the 2013 local tax collection drive.

Second was Kalansogoia Chiefdom which collected a total of twenty-nine million, two hundred and ninety thousand leones (Le29, 290,000) from five thousand, eight hundred and fifty-eight (5,858) legible tax payers in that part of Tonkolili district.

In the Class A chiefdom category ( i.e., the most populous chiefdoms), Konike Chiefdom was first having collected a total of thirty-eight million three hundred and thirty thousand leones (Le38,330,000).

Second highest was Kholifa Rowolloh Chiefdom with a tax collection portfolio of thirty-seven million, nine hundred and fifty thousand leones (37,950,000).

The CCAC said Gbonkolenken Chiefdom performed abysmally in the 2013 tax season as only twenty-three million two hundred and eighty thousand leones (Le23,280,000) was collected in that chiefdom.

He assured that all those who have misappropriated chiefdom revenue will meet the full force of the law.
