Sani Abacha street traders to quit

The Minister of Trade and Industry Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara Monday told traders and stakeholders at a meeting at the Ministry’s conference room at Youyi Building in Freetown, that traders within the Freetown municipality should be ready to quit the streets of the city of Freetown this month and relocate to the Vitoria Park.

He stressed that traders should comply with the communiqué they signed with the Freetown City Council and they should not politicize thee issue.

He said it was disheartening that most people are now making political out of a social by telling the traders, as he put, “Na dae four for four wae wuna bin vote for.”

He disclosed to them that their strike action on Friday, January 3 greatly displeased President Ernest Bai Koroma.

In response the traders tendered their apologies to President Koroma, the Government and people of this country and promised that they will comply with the decision of Government to remove themselves from the streets and relocate to the Victoria Park.
