Over Huge Charges on Market Stalls Councillor, Market Chairlady, Accuse 104 MP

Report reaching this medium indicates that the Councillor for Ward 369, Mr. Abdulai Tarawallie and Chairlady Ruth Kamara, Dan Street Market have accused their Hon. Member of Parliament for Constituency 104,Babartunde Lewally  of not allowing traders to make use of the constructed market stalls at the said business centre by imposing weighty charges on them.

According to the irate Councillor and the market Chairlady, they were agreed with the MP that only evicted traders will be install or inaugurated after the construction exercise of the market would have completed but to their surprise, the MP did not only ordered the market stalls through the Constituency Chairman, Pa Sittah to remain close but he also stressed that all traders who cannot afford to pay the proclaimed two million Leones should vacate the market area immediately.

The disappointed representatives explained in tears that prior to the construction of the market stalls; the MP told them that they are going to pay according to how they use to pay to keep their loads in store per day which was two thousand Leones. After calculating the two thousand Leones per day, they arrived at five hundred thousand Leones per year.

At this juncture, the Chairlady said they as business people who are very much aware about the general increase in price of building materials they decided to round up the money to one million Leones but amazingly when they approached the MP with the hope that he will agree to the unanimous amount, Hon. Lewally allegedly frowned that only those traders who can afford the two million Leones can utilized the well prepared market stalls.

Allegations among traders rumored that some senior members of the APC Government are currently persuading MP Tunde Lewally with the aid of the 104 Constituency APC Chairman, Pa Sittia to give the market stalls to their wives who never deal in business within the said location.

The frustrated traders and Councillors therefore vowed that they will not agree for a different set of people who have no knowledge about the construction of the stalls to take over the market where they have been traded for donkey years.

Councillor Tarawallie said he was shocked to learn that the MP kicked him out of the process and centered a company called “I Care Investment” which he further identified as unregistered and unqualified to undertake such an alleged crooked deal that has left thousand of traders in disarray. They invoked President Koroma’s intervention to find out the truth in the matter.

Effort to contact Hon. Tunde Lewally to response on allegations leveled against him proved futile up to press time.
