Didi Abu comes to promote youth football
Ex-East End Lions, Sierra Fisheries and Leone Stars rocky Defender, Mr. Didi Abu (in photo) arrived in Freetown from Maryland in the United States of America on Monday, December 2 this year to promote youth football in the country after his stay in the Diaspora for over 20 years.
Speaking to this press, he said that his arrival in the country is to help promote youth football especially among kids between the ages of 7 – 12 years in consultation with the Sierra Leone Football Association and friends in the country who have experience in leading these kids to become future football stars.
Mr. Abu further disclosed that he has passion for the children of Sierra Leone who have love for football and that he is doing his best to help them in both their educational pursuits and footballing careers.
He called on all footballers especially the kids to take learning very seriously, adding that with better education there is proper planning for a brighter future.
Mr. Didi Abu is reported to be watching some of the kids at different football training grounds in Freetown.
He said that youth football must be spread across the twelve districts across the country.
“In 2014, I will provide ten FIFA footballs and ten boots each to all twelve district associations in order to upgrade the talents of the kids which is my dream in this country,” he revealed.
He explained that he is working with the United States of American Soccer Development as a Certified Coach and recruits soccer players from high school to college soccer and later develops them to professional status.
He is also a female soccer trainer in Maryland in the United States of America and is highly regarded amongst his football colleagues in Sierra Leone as a humble, dynamic person and a philanthropist.
