DTO Eastern Police on the war path

The no-nonsense District Traffic Officer (DTO) of the Eastern Police Divisional Headquarters in Freetown, Inspector Saidu Mike Kargbo, has launched what he referred to as a full scale operation on Okada riders who are in the habit of plying within the central business district of Freetown thereby causing serious damage to human lives and properties.

According to Inspector Mike Kargbo, the indiscipline of Okada riders will have to stop or else he will not relent in charging them to Court and taking their impounded motor bikes to the Police Training School at Hastings.

He added that a lot of Okada riders are plying the central business district without riders’ licenses, using unauthorized routes and riding without crash helmets.

He underscored that taxi drivers, Poda poda and truck drivers will also be targeted as most of them are in the habit of running half way, over loading, failing to observe Police stop signals, and failing to produce their drivers’ license on demand.

Inspector Mike Saidu Kargbo highlighted that among other things he has raised millions of Leones for the Government of Sierra Leone from fines accrued from drivers who are charged to Court.

He maintained that ever since he took up office as DTO, he has been able to raise over hundreds of millions of Leones to the admiration of his bosses at Police Headquarters in Freetown.

He admonished Police Officers working under his command not to compromise matters which must be dealt with by the Court.

He maintained that he will not do anything to destroy his hard won image which he has worked for over the years.
