Latest reports reaching this paper have stated that Messrs Gibrilla Kamara and Prince Coker former Leader and Chairman respectively of the of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sorbeh, have been sacked because of what a press release from the party office described as their inefficiency, negligence, disregard for party members, unacceptable political principles and practices and their neurotic behaviour to wreck the party.
The release explains that the National Executive Committee (NEC) who has the constitutional mandate to hire and fire, has voted in the following interim executive officers to various offices to run the affairs of the party on to a date that they will hold a national delegates’ conference to elect new executive members.
They are Mr. Ahmed Conteh-Interim Party Leader; Mr. Hassan Gba-Kamara-Interim Deputy Party Leader; Mr. Albert B.S. Kamara-Interim National Chairman; Mr. Abdulai Bangura-Interim Deputy National Chairman; and Mr. Wuyeh Kondeh- Interim Deputy National Secretary General.
According to the release this new executive committee has been presented to the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC), the Office of National Security (ONS), the All Political Parties Youth Association (APPYYA), the All Political Parties Association (APPA), and the All Political Parties Women’s Association (APPWA) and to the other nine political parties in the country.
The release also noted that the party’s Leader was fired because of his negligence to call up meetings as stipulated in the constitution, thereby bringing the party to dormancy, lack of communication between the leadership and the national executive that is responsible for the administration of the party as stipulated by the constitution.
The release pointed out that the entire membership of the party takes great exception to a report that was made to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) by both the Leader and the Chairman that a cross section of the executive committee were planning to burn down the party office at 179 Kissy Bye Pass Road in Kissy east of Freetown, noting that thorough investigations, the allegation was found to be untrue and baseless.
The release also stated that the Leader failed to inform and account to the executive committee members of monies given to the party, citing that a donation of $4,000 from President Ernest Bai Koroma, and $40,000 from Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan were never accounted for by the Leader and the Chairman.
The release also stated that these two gentlemen allegedly involved themselves in anti-party propaganda and other activities that would tend to disrupt the peaceful, lawful and efficient running of the party which are inconsistent with the aims and objectives of the party.
The two men were reportedly fired on October 19 this year.
Up to the time of going to press late last night the two gentlemen refused to grant this paper an interview to react to these allegations, claiming that they were consulting with stakeholders on their own line of action.
