President Koroma Signs Right to Access Information Act
President Koroma has said that today is the second time that he is making public his assent to a bill since he assumed office. The first was the Gender Bill and now the Right to Access Information Bill.
He said the reason for this is based on the fact that the two bills are very much important to opening up the space of good governance and transparency in the country.
President Koroma also noted that the bill is not a new one because he did say in Parliament when he was Minority Leader in Parliament, that when elected, because he knew he was going to be elected president, that he will enact the Freedom of Information bill.
The president singled out Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai as one of the compatriots who had been calling for the passing of the bill into law in the country. He noted that Mr. Abdulai even visited him in parliament back then.
