Councilor misuses MAFFS property

A well placed source has told this paper that the Councilor of Constituency 112, Mr. Percy Nicholas, has been conniving with certain youths in that community to misuse the property of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Security which they have allegedly transformed into a car-wash and garbage.

According to the All People’s Congress (APC) Zonal Chairman, Mr. Mohammed Sesay, the property was handed over to his committee by the Permanent Secretary of the Agriculture Ministry, Mr. Edward Kargbo for care and security against intruders.

He disclosed that the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) Councilor has been collecting taxes for the use of the land from people and threatening members of the APC Zonal Committee that he is in charge of the Ward and that the Ministry has very little right to preserve the land while the jobless youths are looking for possibilities to earn money through their honest labour.

Mr. Sesay further said that he has on several occasions been embarrassed by the youths who are using the land wrongly and was therefore calling on the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Edward Kargbo to address this issue immediately to avoid confrontation.

In a brief interview with Councilor Percy Nicholas, he said the Zonal Committee was not officially presented to him and that they need the kind of recognition to help them pursue their youthful cause.
