Hon. Amani Unity Gala Commences in Constituency 112

Constituency 112 Unity Football Gala commenced on Sunday 12th May 2013 at the MAFA playing field, Lumley.

Sixteen zones within Constituency 112, namely, Freetown Road, Lower Juba, Portor, Number Nine, Kaningo, Pentagon, Regent Road, Gbangbayilla, Grassfield, Upper Juba, Kondi Farm, Malama, Kamayama, Babadorie, Crabtong and Sheriff Drive are competing in a knock-out gala. The tournament ends on Sunday 2nd June 2013.

On the opening day, Lower Juba hammered Freetown Road 3-1. Lower Juba captain, Daniel Charles scored a hat-trick.

Captain Daniel Charles scores his brace in the hour mark, and six minutes later he scored a hat-trick from a free kick.  Second half substitute, Aruna Bundu, scored a consolation goal for Freetown Road in the dying minute but Lower Juba qualified to the quarter finals of constituency 112 Unity Football Gala.

Monday 13th May, Portor FC engaged Number Nine but the result was not known at press time.

Member of Parliament of Constituency 112, Hon. Shekuba Amani Sannoh, popularly known as “Amani for many” who is sponsoring the three week gala, told this press that the purpose of the gala was to unite youths of Constituency 112 at zonal levels and to establish a constituency football team as well as using the outdoor activity to keep the constituency actively alive.

Today, Tuesday 14th May, Kaningo battled Pentagon.  The champion of this gala will bag a sum of Le1.5 million plus a trophy, the Runners Up will receive Le1 million, and bronze winners will get Le500,000 and several attractive individual cash prizes.

Dignitaries present at the opening match were Minister of Fisheries Alie Pato Sowe, Constituency 112 Chairman, Mark Thompson Councilor-Abdul Karim Turay, Councilor Nicolson Percy, and Chairlady-Priscilla Kamara.

The opening match was peaceful.
