General Sfano lauds American Ambassador

One of the country’s most popular musicians, the King of Pop in Sierra Leone, Mr. Sfano Njawa Sesay, also known as General Sfano, has described the American Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Mr. Michael Owen, as a great American who has, in various ways, proven himself a true humanitarian to the people of Sierra Leone.

In a meeting that was held at Mokonde, Njala, over the weekend, aimed at promoting the essence to support single mothers and less-privileged children in the country, and the proposed infrastructural project of the Sfano-Michael Jackson Children’s Home within Njala town, General Sfano assured the people that he will keep campaigning for the infrastructural development for children and the vulnerable people in that community, believing that his members will, in the future, gain the attention of the local and international communities and hopefully achieve the aims and objectives of SFAMJACFUND.

He acquainted the people that the name Michael Jackson is the name of an American and that he believes that the Sfano-Michael Jackson Children’s Development Fund is an African-American concern “as long as we stage our sincerity and determination in the process.”

General Sfano disclosed that the moral support given to his group through a letter from Ambassador Michael Owen some time ago, and of the Ambassador’s prior humanitarian activities in the country, has encouraged him to speak more confidently that Mr. Michael Owen is a great American is both a supporter of humanitarian initiatives as well as a role model among other Ambassadors in the country.

The King of pop disclosed that he was present at the swearing in ceremony of the forty one Peace Corps recently at the Miatta Conference hall in Freetown where, he said, Ambassador Michael Owen explained about his humanitarian assistance to an educational institution in Kingtom, west of Freetown and other parts of the country.

“I made a follow up on the Ambassador’s humanitarian activities in the county and I’m very impressed with his record,” General Sfano told Njala people.

In response to the sentiments, Mr. Ismael Vandy Aruna, a student at the Njala University commended General Sfano for his courageous efforts at promoting issues affecting the people of their community.

Aruna said that as a student, he believes people of great recognition are expected to boost the vulnerable people, noting that General Sfano is a star who observes that rule.

He encouraged General Sfano to call the attention of the American people, especially the American Ambassador to further render his humanitarian support to the people of Kori and Mano Dasse Chiefdoms, where, he said, there are a lot of single parents who give their children into early marriages and engage in other malpractices because of poverty.

In he remarks, General Sfano’s mother, Madam Margaret Njawa, encouraged the people to give their support to his son, adding that the initiative of the Pop Star was courageous, stressing that her son has been relentless in championing the cause of his people.

The Town Chief of Njala, Mr. John Goba, also encouraged General Sfano to stand out robust in pursuing his humanitarian challenges.

Chief Goba also said that he was happy to know about the role of Ambassador Michael Owen in helping the people of the country especially the less-privileged and vulnerable.

He said that he is encouraging Ambassador Michael Owen to extend his helping hand to the people of Njala as there are lots of vulnerable cases there to address.

“We the people of Kori Chiefdom are wishing Ambassador Michael Owen the best even when he returns home,” chief Goba enthused.
