Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara, Hon. M.B Atilla, and General Sfano honor the disabled
The Minister of Trade and Industry Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara, Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, Hon. Mustapha Bai Atilla, and the King of Pop and Founder of Sfano-Michael Jackson Children’s Development Fund, Mr. Sfano Njawa Sesay, honoured the disabled at the official launching ceremony of the Disabled Got Talent Award at the conference room of the Freetown City Council at Wallace Johnson Street, Freetown.
In a brief statement, one of the giant Ministers in President Koroma’s government, Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara said that he has been supportive in developing the living status of the underprivileged and the disabled whose living condition is a desperate concern in the country.
Hon. Usman Boie Kamara disclosed that his presence at the Disability Got Talent Awards launching ceremony was a humanitarian cause and not political and that as a Minister in the Ernest Bai Koroma government, he has a responsibility in developing the living standards of the people of this country in his own way.
Alhaji Usu Boie Kamara disclosed his intention in also launching a foundation that will advocate on behalf of the vulnerable youth and children in the country, adding that his humanitarian foundation is expected to be launched in Sierra Leone, the United States of America, and Europe.
At the Disability Got Talent Awards ceremony, various speakers like the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs Hon. Mustapha Bai Atilla who made the keynote address, Mr. Sfano Njawa Sesay – Founder and Secretary General, Sfano-Michael Jackson Children’s Development Fund who represented all Non Governmental Organizations were explicit in their passion for supporting the disabled group through Heal Sierra Leone.
In a brief statement, Hon. Mustapha Bai Atilla called on the attention of the disabled to be on the conscience of the public and for them to bestow respect on them through other humanitarian organizations that are being inspired by Heal Sierra Leone. Adding, any people of the public caught disrespecting or embarrassing the disabled will be dealt with according to the rule of law.
Hon. M.B. Atilla further said that the disabled communities should think about being meaningful to the development of Sierra Leone and not always consider themselves as street beggars or hopeless people.
Hon. Atilla disclosed that though he is disabled, President Koroma’s government considered him in the position of the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs, indicating the President’s desire to make every Sierra Leonean feel belonging and respectful to the development of their various community people.
Mr. Sfano Njawa said that the disabled are part of the people of the country and that in representation of the Non Governmental Organization in the country he believes that the Millennium Development Goal has opt every organization to consider the development of disabled people as a priority and a poverty reduction strategy to the people of the country.
General Sfano assures that members of the Sfano-Michael Jackson Children’s Development Fund will give their support to Heal Sierra Leone in their own way and will work closely with other organizations as a helping factor in the process of the awards event of the Disability Got Talent at the Family Kingdom on the 3rd January 2014, as was earlier disclosed by Mr. Joseph Sannoh, Executive Director, Heal Sierra Leone.
Mr. Sfano Njawa Sesay stated that he was impressing on the appointment of Mr. Mustapha Bai Atilla as Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs and that President Koroma a role model to other Presidents across the world has staged more hope for people with disabilities in the country.
He called on the disabled to use this moment as an opportunity to see themselves in a more respectful and positive manner.
Representative of the Handicap International Inclusive Coordinator, Aude Bumbacher, also said that the disabled will be respectful and that her group has decided to give support to Heal Sierra Leone to achieve their aims and objectives in smoothly staging the Awards event.
Mr. Joseph Sannoh thanked Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara, Hon. Mustapha Bai Atilla, Genera Sfano, Aude Bumbacher and all dignitaries that attended the Disabled Got Talent Award launching ceremony.
Mr. Sannoh disclosed that financial support is the current problem of his group and that the is kindly calling on the government of Sierra Leone, international donor bodies, and humanitarians to come on board and help his group achieve in bringing hope, self reliant and to live in a world of self affordability.
He assured everyone that his group will work hard and organize the Disability Got Talent Awards successfully at the Family Kingdom Entertainment Complex, Aberdeen, Freetown as a historical event across the world.
