90 year old Paramount Chief celebrates 40 year rule
The people of Koya Chiefdom in the Port Loko District, North of Sierra Leone, have reportedly celebrated the fortieth year anniversary their ninety year old traditional leader and longest serving Paramount Chief in the country, Paramount Chief Bai Kompa Bomboli II (at left in photo).
The celebration took place in Masiaka town on Wednesday, September 18 this year, and attracted dignitaries from various parts of the country who also displayed an esteem sense of appreciation to the people of Koya Chiefdom for the Chief.
In his statement, Paramount Chief Bai Kompa Bomboli II thanked his people for their usual humanitarian support to everyone in that community and those plying the community route by transportation.
He said that people of Masiaka have been promoting the production and commercialization of local food stuffs and that they should further display their humanitarian interest that will inspire people of other communities to take food security and sufficiency very seriously. He encouraged all religious and traditional leaders to be more united for the sake of peace and security in the country.
In a brief interview with the Former Secretary to President Ernest Bai Koroma, Mr. Sheka Mansaray, he said that since18th September, 1973, Chief Bai Kompa Bomboli II has being very reliable and consistent during his service as Paramount Chief of Koya Chiefdom. He described his leadership as one of high quality, courage.
He stated that leading people is a courageous and patient act that is borne from love and compassion.
He further stated that the support of the people of the chiefdom in for the Paramount Chief is enough to convince everyone that Chief Bai Kompa Bomboli II has been working diligently with his people.
Mrs. Rebecca Kalokoh who represented the women of the chiefdom, said that they were pleased with the ruling leader who has been helping in the promotion of gender equality and the rights of women and children in their communities.
On his part, Mr. Unisa Deen Kargbo, the youth leader, stated that the youths have been very active in community developmental activities through the support of Chief Bai Kompa Bomboli II.
He assured the Paramount Chief that they will maintain their usual cooperation in the production and commercialization of local food products and that they will remain law-abiding for the good of the people of the chiefdom.
He maintained that the Koya Chiefdom is blessed with natural and human potentials and called on the Government and the international community support them in their objectives.
The ceremony was colourful with traditional and cultural displays to the envy of all present.
