SIERRA Update gains momentum in London

Sierra Leone’s new High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Edward Mohamed Turay, has been told to do everything possible to maintain the publication of the SIERRA Update news magazine published under the Sierra Leone High Commission.

At a jam-packed ceremony organised in honour of the High Commissioner at the Lambeth Academy South East London, All People’s Congress (APC) Executive officer, Dr. Seray Wurie said the magazine contains just what Sierra Leoneans in the United Kingdom have been looking forward to.

“The magazine contains almost everything in terms of national achievements the government of President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma has been doing in Sierra Leone.”

Dr. Wurie described the magazine as informative, good quality and of international standard, adding that never in the history of the London High Commission has there been such a very good quality magazine.

He encouraged the Publisher of the magazine Sorie Sudan Sesay, who is also Information Attaché at the mission to keep up the good work.

“I want to encourage you to continue your good job – what you are doing is a remarkable job and on behalf of all of us, I want to thank you for a job well done,” Dr. Wurie said.

SIERRA Update Publisher Sorie Sudan Sesay said since the publication of the first edition in November last year, he has been receiving encouraging compliments from Sierra Leoneans both at home and abroad more especially colleagues back home – among them: Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) President Umaru Fofanah and Vice President Abdul Rahman Swaray, Standard Times’ Publisher Phillip Neville and Awareness Times controversial female Publisher Sylvia Blyden.

Sudan said he is strategising to expand the circulation of the magazine to reach countries like Sweden, Northern Ireland, Portugal, Denmark, Spain and other European countries where the mission is accredited to.

“I really want to make a difference by reaching out to the rest of the world some of the achievements of the Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma’s government which are deliberately being ignored by the western media.”
