4 Heavyweights Battles for Presidency
Four prominent football stakeholders will battle for the FA’s Presidential hot seat slated for 27th July in Freetown. The four contestants include Rodney Michael, Isha Johansen, Football legend Mohamed Kallon, and Foday Turay respectively.
All four candidates are said to be very popular among the football family and 47 delegates will choose the choicest candidate to man the affairs of the FA in the next four years.
The most popular candidate Rodney Michael has been a Football Administrator for the past decade in Bo District and has risen to the position of Chairman in the Regional football body and later turned Chairman of the Sierra Leone Premier League Board. Rodney is currently running a football academy and he is widely known to Referees, Footballers, Coaches and football stakeholders because of his benevolence. He is nicknamed ‘Football Philanthropist’.
Isha Johansen is popularly known as Iron Lady and she is a contender to watch closely, because she has the support of the current FA secretariat and the Minister of Sports, Mr. Paul Kamara. Johansen owns a premiership club called FC Johansen. Her team has played matches in different parts of the world including Spain, USA, Sweden and Norway and has also organized a renown international football tourneys in Freetown. She has spent huge funds to foster the discipline in the country. Isha Johansen is tagged the favored candidate of the ruling APC party that is expected to replace Nahim Khadi.
Mohamed Kallon is Sierra Leone’s legendary football icon who has featured in the national football team for 19 years. He has been a professional ace striker and has been bank rolled in world’s top footballing outfits abroad and has played together with the likes of King Ronaldo, Zidane, Buffon, and dozens of other world class soccer exponent. Kallon also owns a premiership football club, FC Kallon, a Radio Station, a Sports Boutique, a football complex in the west of the capital Freetown and a charity foundation.
Foday Turay is a professional of football constitution and has also served as chairman Central Parade FC and the Premier League Board. Turay is currently the Vice Chairman of the Western Area Football Association.
Campaigns are intensifying across the nation ahead of the upcoming polls.
Who will clinch the covetous seat of the FA Presidency is the million dollar question on the lips of soccer loving Sierra Leoneans.
