SLPP to Pay 15 Years Rent – Landlord Threatens Court Action
The Paramount Chief of Njaluahun Chiefdom in the Kailahun District, Sheriff Coker-Njajua, has accused the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) of owing his family fifteen years rent arrears for the house the party is occupying in Segbwema.
He made the accusation while speaking over the Eastern Community Radio Station in Kenema. Paramount Chief Coker-Njajua threatened to drag the party to court if it does not settle the rent arrears with his family.
The Paramount Chief said he was not making the accusation because of political reasons but because he is the head of the family that the party owes. He called on the party to pay the arrears as soon as possible to avoid embarrassment.
The Paramount Chief’s accusation has come at a time the party is struggling to elect a new leader who will take over from the outgoing leader, John Oponjo Benjamin.
