Retired Football Heroes Deserve Urgent Attention says Saidu Turay
The Financial Secretary of the Retired National Football Heroes, Saidu Turay, popularly known as Saidu United, has said that the past and current state of the ex-players welfare is nothing to write home about as they are living in a miserable state.
He made the statement during a recent meeting at the Football Heroes’ Secretariat at the National Stadium.
“Government, SLFA and the Sports Ministry should respect and honor the ex-national players as they have sacrificed their time and energy for this nation with little benefit,” he stressed, appealing to the sporting stakeholders to provide jobs, housing and other benefits for the ex-players.
Saidu United Turay, being a retired football hero, played for Freetown United, Ports Authority, Mighty Blackpool and Leone Stars. He is presently working for the African Minerals.
