Sixteen New Lieutenant-Colonels Decorated
Sixteen newly-promoted Lieutenant-Colonels have been decorated during an impressive ceremony on Friday, July 5th, 2013, at the Myhaung Officers Mess at Wiberforce in Freetown.
The decorated Lieutenant-Colonels are, J.M Lukay, A.Jusu, Reverend Kargbo, B.A.L Sesay, H.S Coomber, A.T Sesay, P. Conteh, A. Kamara, Ansu Sesay, H.O.D Pratt and A. Kamara among others.
All the new Lieutenant-Colonels were decorated by the Minister of Defence, Retired Major Palo Conteh who also decorated Colonel, Sullay Ibrahim Sesay who should have been decorated long ago but was pursuing a course in Egypt.
Addressing the decorated Lieutenant-Colonels and other senior officers, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Samuel Omar Williams (in photo), said that the promotions were aimed at enthusing the officials to work more diligently, noting that the promotions were meritorious, based on a set criteria and existing vacancies. The CDS urged those who were not promoted to continue working assiduously as their own time will surely come, but told them to be mindful of the fact that to be promoted in the military is not an easy task. He congratulated the newly-decorated officers and wished them a more successful military career.
The Minister of Defence, Palo Conteh, also congratulated the newly-promoted officers on their remarkable and historic achievements, promising them that some of them who will continue to work hard will surely be promoted to the enviable rank of Colonel.
