Philanthropist and popular businessman Nasser Ayoub will be donating 10 bags of rice to 10 different communities in commemoration of the Nelson Mandela Day, July 18th which is celebrated across the world for the former South African statesman.
The United Nations in 2010 slated July 18th every year as Nelson Mandela Day. The UN is urging people across the world to do something good on this day. People are also urged to dedicate 67 minutes of their time to do community work in dedication to the 95 year old former South African President.
The ailing former South African leader turns 95 years this year. Mandela has been on the news for several days now for his dwindling health.
Nasser Ayoub says Mandela is his greatest hero of all times. The Hotel Africanus CEO said like Mandela, he is has fought and will continue to fight against racism and discrimination. He said he believed in the principles of Mandela and wants to keep his legacies alive.
“It is for this reason that I am donating 10 bags of rice to 10 different communities in Freetown. I wish I can do more to show my appreciation for Mandela,” Ayoub said. The ‘Tranga Hase Borbor’ star artist said this year’s Nelson Mandela Day also coincides with The Islamic Holy Month of Ramadan which urges Muslims to give to the less privileged. He said he hopes the benefited communities will utilise these small gifts for their communities.
Ayoub said he is also urging Sierra Leoneans and people across the world to dedicate their time to community work.
“I urge you to dedicate that small part of your time to community service. You can help with cleaning work or simply visiting the sick at the hospital,” Ayoub said.
The program is also supported by Jamboree Consult. Murtala Mohamed Kamara, Founder of Jamboree Consult, a Public Relations unit of SaloneJamboree said the donation came out of discussion between Ayoub and himself. He thanked Ayoub for this goodwill and urged him to do more. He said his brand is proud to be part of this schedule program.
The donation will take place at the Hotel Africanus off King Street on Friday, 5th July, 2013.
