New Brigadiers Decorated
The Minister of Defence, Palo Conteh (in photo) past Friday decorated two newly promoted brigadiers and seven colonels during an impressive ceremony at the Myhaung Officers Mess in Wilberforce Barracks, Freeetown.
The decorated Brigadiers are Brima Sesay and Moses Bayemi Miller and the decorated colonels are Henry Sigismond Jomo, M.O Mansaray, A.Y Kargbo, Salieu Kanu, P.K Lavahun, A.M Koroma and Dr. S. Sahr all of whom were recently promoted following a mass retirement of other senior officers.
Addressing the military officers during the ceremony, the Defence Minister noted that the promotions were based on merit as the beneficiaries have been serving the nation assiduously. He consoled those who were not fortunate to be promoted not to lose hope but to keep on serving their country diligently so that they can also benefit from future promotion. He added that some senior officers were not promoted due to the fact that they are close to retirement age.
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) S.O Williams expressed the hope that one of the promoted officers will soon succeed him as CDS. He also encouraged officers who were not promoted to continue working hard so that they too will be promoted in future.
