London Mining supports McCorkill Foundation to deliver medical supplies to Lunsar
London Mining Company on Friday 13th June donated medical items to the Lunsar Health Clinic in promoting good health for the Lunsar people.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony of the items, community relations and resettlement manager Mr. Desmond Doherty said that London Mining is in a good relationship with the Lunsar community and wants to maintain that. The late McCorkill who was working with London Mining created the relationship and now, Annette Roberts who is the brother of the late McCorkill and London Mining will continue its relationship by supporting the medical centre, he said.
Chief Alfred Kamara who is the Town Chief assures London Mining that Lunsar people are not blind of the great improvement they are doing in their community. Chief Kamara appreciates London Mining’s corporate social responsibilities. Chief also revealed that London Ming has taken up agriculture for the young people and he therefore encourages the people of Lunsar to exercise patient with London Mining as they intend doing more for the community.
The Marampa Youth Chairman Frank Conteh said that this is a lesson for Lunsar and Sierra Leone at large is at the hands of the youths. Frank expressed that great improvement and blessings are seen in Lunsar today compared to years back. He therefore encourages the women to make proper use of the donated items.
In making the key note address, District Medical Officer Dr. Sartie Kenneh said that London Mining’s Corporate Social Responsibilities is being appreciated by the Ministry of Health. Dr. Kenneh maintained that this giant mining company is in line with the President’s Agenda for Prosperity in bringing medical consumables in line to boost the free health care.

In line with their Corporate Social Responsibilities, London Mining and Boxx production organised a musical concert of which London Mining paid 15 artists from Freetown and 5 from Lunsar just to bring smiles in the faces of the youths of Lunsar. Among such artists were Succulent, Star Zero, Camouflage, Slim G, 441 and many more. The Town hall was packed full with youths enjoying themselves. London Mining allows the youths to take charge over the entrance fee as to allow them boost their youth funding.
London Mining thus promised the youths of organising this musical concert yearly for them.
