Water crisis at Mountain Cut

Dear Editor:  I want to bring to the attention of the authorities, especially the management of the Guma Valley Water Company that we in Mountain Cut in Freetown are suffering as a result of an acute shortage of water. We have been hit by a serious water scarcity as pipe borne water has not been available for over three weeks now, and residents have to travel over two miles to get water.

Guma stopped supplying pipe borne water to us well over a month ago and we have to toil daily for water, making life very difficult for us.

There is a problem of sanitation in the area as all residents depend on cut pipes along the community streets, and in fact it is not clean water. We are therefore calling on government to come to our aid and not to forget the reason as to why the people chose them to be in governance. It is not only the matter of electing them, but their responsibility is to consider the welfare of the people in all activities.

Ramatu Dumbuya a suckling mother bitterly complained of the situation which does not allow them to ever get better sleep at night just because of this same water crisis.

We are waiting to see water here.

Yours truly,

Mohamed Koroma, Sierra Leone
