New England Ville Community Cries for Development
The New England Ville Community of Constituency 109 Freetown is appealing to His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma for the extension of the Hennesie Street road construction to Omorlay Bush, Kanu town and worst areas of their community.
The wake up call came as a result of perpetual rumors going round that the Chinese Railway Seventh Group (CRSG) will not extend the road construction works to the worst routes mentioned above.
Speaking to the Coordinator of New England Ville Development Organization, Mr. Abubakarr Samura who is understood set to open a road he constructed in that community called Bai Samura Road is pleading with the government of Sierra Leone to see reason why they should negotiate with CRSG to take the road construction into those mentioned routes earlier.
However Mr. Samura commended government for providing the community with what he described as a big water dam but according to him the poor people are not benefiting hence they cannot connect personally to the dam.
He is therefore calling on the government and the Ministry of Water Resources to erect stand pipes in strategic areas within the community for the entire people to benefit from the water supply. He further expressed dismay that that the community lacks many social services such as electricity, a market, and Community centers.
Furthermore Mr. Samura analyzed the community comprising of over 5,000 people who still walk miles to fetch water, a development he said that has many negative effects, especially to young girls who normally suffer sexual harassment and teenage pregnancy. He maintained that, “the only places where people can get water in the community are Omorlay Bush, Coal Water, Morjabie, Turay Water which are unprotected sources of safe drinking water; this is a recipe for the spread of water borne diseases,” he said.
In conclusion, Mr. Samura said some people even sleep at the water wells just to fetch water.

Its just to plead with the government of Sierra Leone to continue the good work. The government has made me in particular, to be proud of where I came from. The work the government has done is just indescribable. God will continue to bless our country and give us leaders that seek the interest of the country and its people.
29th June 2014My request to the government of sierra Leone is to please emphasized on building New England Ville corner roads. Otherwise, just making the main roads and leaving the corner roads will lead to the main roads spoiling easily. So please since you have started the good work, do it for the whole country and not just for people in the main roads to benefit from good roads. Mind you there were people who where climbing down the Hills of new england ville to come and cast their votes and all they need in return is for them to be able to walk safely without falling into holes or tripping.Love sierra Lone, Love Africa.
