On Sunday 30th December 2012, Famous was prestigiously crowned with the laureate of All Works of Life (AWOL) Artist of the Year 2012 award, an award that the artist says feels great to have because of his hard-earned work and success earned last year, which accordingly made him the deserved winner among many other top artists.  Famous thanked God and his fans and said the award will propel him to do more good things.

Famous recounted his success stories of 2012 beginning with the momentous launch of his 4th and most popular album, ‘Noto Alman Go Lek U’ featuring songs like Kopor Don; his masterpiece show on Easter Sunday in Freetown; great international tours (UN charity show Miami-Africa Diaspora and Community show for Sierra Leoneans and Liberians in New York, Virginia, New Jersey, North Carolina and Washington DC in the USA); mega album sales (which he approximated to be in the region of 20-30,000 copies) and sell out concert tickets.  Internationally, the renowned artist stated distributions in the USA and the UK hiked demand for his video; all of which climaxed Famous’ 2012 fame.

Conversely, Famous dilated that the secret behind his achievements is composing songs that suit native and cultural demands, music the layman, old, young, and children can appreciate.  Songster Famous deposited that his source of inspiration is being quiet and observing people and things.  Being clear and free thinking before composing, slow to talk and keen to listen, singing about reality, citing songs like ‘Luk Under u fut.’ etc., treating people with fairness, and being isolated, all form sources of Famous ideal attributes.

For many music commentators and entertainment diarists or journalists, the awarding of Master Fredrick Peters aka Famicious Famous as the 2012 Artist of the Year comes as no surprise considering his almost total dominance of the music market and numerous music fans across the world.

The 2012 AWOL Crowned Artist of the Year extended these praises to God and his fans for granting him a as he puts it, ‘a great year 2012’.Famous thanked the fans for attending his shows, buying his CD’ and DVD’s. He also praised the All Works of Life (AWOL) Secretariat for granting his the award as he noted that it is noting an easy thing to be crowned best from among other colleagues who are also very good in the skills. Famous went on to express profuse appreciation to the fans for making him proud of himself and talent. He noted that the award will enthuse him to do more as he reckoned that the expectation and eyes of the world is on him now as has always been. He promised to produce a highly appreciated album that will suit local and international taste.

Famous nonetheless call on Sierra Leonean to love and promote the musicians as he highlighted it is a profitable business that needs expert attention.

According to the artist with four officially rated successful albums and a best seller, poster child Famous drew attention to Sierra Leonean songs not being officially marketed abroad because of the lack of internationally organized music selling mechanisms, not breaking the market because of lack of media and public promotion, he also cited lack of love and unity within the music family, this he delved on by saying many play the personal interest game as against that of the general good.  Famous also identified lack of understanding and exposure by artists in knowing the demands of consumers whom he referred to as the center of the music business, he also noted a lack of technical and professional expertise in music management in the country, the lack of adequate skill and capacity of musicians and producers and other key players, thus he called for consensus pulling and team work from colleague musicians.  Famous nevertheless called for professional marketers to step in and help as this area he said is vulnerable at the moment.
