NRA forms tax evasion unit
As a way of combating the heightened spate of tax evasion undermining the National Revenue Authority (NRA) revenue generating efforts, the Authority has established an independent intelligence and investigative unit to deal with tax evaders.
The information was relayed to Sierra Express Media by the Assistant Commissioner of the newly-established Revenue Intelligence and Investigative Unit, Sheku Kamara during an interview in his office at 17 Wellington Street, Freetown.
Mr Kamara noted that his department has the first assignment of investigating the Africana-Ltd Horse Fishing Company which has become notorious for tax evasion. He pointed out that his department is mandated to pursue, investigate and report tax evaders directly to the NRA Commissioner, Haja Kala Kamara.
