APC makes inroads in Eastern District in Sierra Leone
According to the preliminary results read by the Independent Radio Network (IRN), it is rumored that the All People’s Congress Party (APC) have won eleven parliamentary seats in the eastern district in just concluded November 17 polls.
It could be recalled that the region had always been the strongest of holds for the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP). But according to latest reports doing the rounds it appears the camel straw has finally been broken, with the APC rumored winning all the eight seats in Kono District, two in Kailahun which under Constituencies 5 and 3 and in Kenema District Constituency 15.
Speaking to the resident Minister East, William Juana Smiths in an attempt to strike the balance of argument about the facts, he noted that though it is reported by the IRN as winning ticket for his party yet he is urging all party supporters to respect the result that will be pronounced by the Chief Electoral Commissioner, Christiana Thorpe. Saying she is the only person mandated under the spirit of the law to make such a pronouncement.
He noted further that the momentary peace of the entire exercise cannot be overriden without the hard-earned effort of our security personnel. Maintaining that the invoke of the Military Aid to Civil Power (MACP) by President Koroma had served as the right pils for the disease of election-violence.
