SLAH Chairman expresses thanks at Fundraiser
In his message at the highly successful fundraiser Dinner and Dance in Freetown, the Sierra Leone Arc of Hope’s Board Chairman’s remarks follow:
Fellow Sierra Leoneans, and friends of Sierra Leone, I want to express my humble gratitude to you for spending this evening with us. Your presence here this evening is a true manifestation of love for your beloved country, Sierra Leone.
I want to take a moment to acknowledge his Excellency and First Lady, and the Vice President and his wife for spending their evening with us. I want to share with the audience tonight that the First Lady was one of the very first distinguished Sierra Leoneans to support our effort by endorsing the Sierra Leone Arc of Hope during the infancy stage. Several months after we received the First Lady’s endorsement, we also received the Vice President’s endorsement.
I want to thank our Ambassador to the United States, the people’s Ambassador for the initiative of this noble endeavor.
The Sierra Leone Arc of Hope is a non-political 501-C-3 non-profit organization in the United States of America, and an NGO right here in Sierra Leone. Membership is open to all. The purpose of the organization is to help foster the continued development of health and healthcare services. The paramount project of the organization is to build a hospital and donate it to Sierra Leone as a birthday gift as we prepare to celebrate our 50th independence anniversary in 2011.
Let us always remember that the future of Sierra Leone is in the hands of Sierra Leoneans. We are therefore asking all Sierra Leoneans, and friends of Sierra Leone to make legitimate contributions towards the project.
On behalf of the board, I want to thank His Excellencies, the President and First Lady, the Vice President and his wife, honorable ministers and members of parliament, Dr. Sho-Sawyer, Director for Diaspora Affairs, all the dignitaries and patrons, our sponsors, the organizers of tonight’s event, and the Board and Steering Committee members of the Sierra Leone Arc of Hope. May this project become reality for the benefit of all Sierra Leoneans.
May I wish you and your families, a Merry Christmas and a healthy and prosperous New Year. God bless Sierra Leone.
