ARS Winning Teams Visit Minister of Sports
Winning teams of the Airtel Rising Stars Tournament (ARS) on Thursday August 9th paid a courtesy visit to the Honorable Minister of Sports, Mr. Paul Kamara, at his office at the Youyi Building, Freetown.
Leading these teams to the Minister, Airtel Brands and Communications Manager, Mustapha Katta, expressed his gratitude to the Minister for what he called his unflinching support to Airtel. Katta went on to announce the teams that emerged as winners of the ARS tournament and explained that these winning teams will be leaving for Nairobi, Kenya, South Africa on Friday August 17th via Kenyan Airways to represent this nation in the Pan African Tournament.
In a brief statement, Hon. Paul Kamara said he considers the winning teams as the best U-17 teams in the country. He applauded the team members and said that this is the beginning of a new dawn in their careers as this is an opportunity for them to exhibit their potential. “The World Cup Under-17 and African Nation’s Cup Under-17 tournaments are ahead of us and as the Ministry of Sports wants to partner with Airtel for the best Under-17 teams,” the Hon. Minister said as he commended Airtel for having spent so much money in promoting football in the country.
He described Airtel as a ‘MOTHER’S HEART’ institution, while thanking the management and staff of Airtel for sponsoring football nationwide.
Corporate Affairs Manager, June Rose-Johnson in her closing remarks thanked the Ministry for their support and promised that the ARS will become a household name in Sierra Leone.
