‘I’ll drop my last sweat for the development of Kono’ SL Exploration GmbH Vice Chairman tells Diamond Stars

These were the words of Sahr Ngegba Vice President and Head of African Operations SL-Exploration Investment and Management GmbH – Freetown Office, when officials and players of newly crowned Champions of the Sierra Leone Premier League, Diamond Stars paid a courtesy call to the Company’s Juba Hill office last Saturday.
Mr. Ngegba has for years now contributed immensely with cash and other support towards the long time coming of the Diamond Stars football club, and according to the club’s Team Manager Chief Paul Saquee, one of his cash donations went a long way in revamping the club financially, technically and morally.
Mr. Ngegba said he was extremely overwhelmed and honored for playing of several host to the newly crowned Champions and praised the Chief for his courage and determination in managing the team.
He said he always knew Diamond Stars will succeed and expressed his continued support towards not only the future success of the club but also the development of Kono District and Sierra Leone at large.
He described Diamond Stars as the pride of the people of Kono and presented a cash donation of Le5 million to the visitors as what he referred to as ‘morale booster.’
Ngegba received a standing ovation when he announced that he will join hands with OCTEA Mining the club’s major sponsors for the 2011/2012 season to sponsor Diamond Stars to make it not only the best Sierra Leonean football club, but also one of the best in Africa.
“I am a Sierra Leonean and I believe when we make money we must spread it to develop our country and eradicate poverty,” Mr. Ngegba said amidst thunderous applause from the visitors and other guests.
The businessman whose company is currently constructing the Kono and Kabala roads disclosed plans of completing the roads before the end of this year.
Earlier, Ngegba introduced Dr. Olaf Grabowski – Managing Director of SL-Exploration Investment and Management GmbH – Freetown Office, whom he described as an internationally acclaimed lawyer who has come to commit his services for the development of Sierra Leone and that company very shortly, will be providing not less than 10, 000 jobs for Sierra Leoneans.
Dr. Olaf thanked the visitors and expressed his delight for hosting them while describing the team as the “Sparkling Diamonds” after a very successful season.
The Managing Director said he will hang heads with his Vice President of the company –Mr. Sahr Ngegba to ensure that their company sponsors the team in future competitions.
Head of the football team’s delegation Paramount Chief Torto thanked the business executives for welcoming them into the company and disclosed that the purpose of their coming was to present the Championship trophy to the company.
He said apart from winning the Sierra Leone Premier League title and awarded the championship trophy, the club also won the Best Club and Best Coach of the season awards amongst others; and described his team as a group of semi professional players whom they want to take to professional level.
Torto said Diamond Stars is just a stepping stone for the players to bigger clubs globally attracting the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea and AC Milan to mention but a few.
Earlier, Chief Saquee introduced members of his delegation including Chief Torto whom he described as the Godfather of Kono football, the club’s Executive and technical staff headed by one-time Sierra Leonean international defender Lamin Bangura.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the club’s captain Munya Kanneh described Ngegba as a great lover of football and the people of Kono who had always come to the rescue of the people of that district especially football players and youths.
“He has always come to our rescue during times of need,” the skipper concluded.
