Death Trap in Nomo Chiefdom

Existing projects in Nomo Chiefdom, Kenema District have not been benefiting the people in any way as the Chiefdom remains the poorest in the country. Nomo Faama, the Chiefdom Headquarters, is amongst the most remote places to live on planet earth.

Kamoh Senesie, an elder in the chiefdom told this press in an interview that the road from Kenema to the chiefdom headquarters is 33 miles away, having damaged bridges and holes along the path, which he described as death traps.

Alleged corruption and poor management of projects, according to Senessie, is stifling the implementation of the Gola Forest program which have the propensity to cut-off the daily sources of livelihood and self support ventures residents in this chiefdom have been undertaking.

Kemoh Senessie said the inception of the Gola Forest program will prevent hunters and farmers from having complete field-days in exercising their various hobbies in the forest.

He maintained that the people are getting poorer day by day as a result of the Gola Forest program and instead of being beneficiaries they have fallen in a rather pathetic situation.
