50 Charged to Court for Multiple Registrations
Chief Superintendent of Police, (CSP) Alfred Karrow Kamara informed journalists in Freetown on Tuesday that 50 persons are going to be arraigned in court this week for voter registration malpractices.
He underscored that at 1200hrs on Saturday July 7th 2012, the National Electoral Commission (NEC) handed over to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Francis Munu, soft and hard copies of names of 794 persons accused of having done multiple registrations in the just concluded exercise nation wide.
Following this event, all Regional commanders North, South, East and Western Area together with their respective crime officers were invited to a meeting on Wednesday 18th July, at police Headquarters in Freetown to deliberate on the issue before charges were being proffered.
In that meeting, the documents were handed over to the Regional commanders to commence investigations in these cases. So far 50 people have been arrested and brought to the various police stations are due in court this week.
