Africell doles out Le 50M to Subscribers
The award winning Mobile communication company, Africell Lintel on Friday, July 7th this year doled out the sum of Fifty Million Leone to 29 lucky subscribers who partook in the recently concluded predict and win draw of the 2012 Euro Nations Cup football tournament co-hosted in Ukraine and Poland at their No. 1 Pivot Street Head Offices, Wilberforce, Freetown.
Africell’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Joe Abass Bangura (in photo) said subscribers were asked to predict the results of the matches played at the just concluded Euro 2012 football tournament adding that during the daily draws, ten lucky subscribers won themselves 1,000 units of air time each with the remaining winners taking home a Million Leones for every match played in the tournament.
Mr. Bangura further noted that, the cash prizes were increased to Le 2,000,000 for the quarter final matches and Le 5,000,000 for the semi final matches and Le10,000,000 for the grand finals. He disclosed that the total units won throughout the tournament amounted to 319,000 units and were delivered directly to winners’ phones.
He made reference to provisions in the Finances Act of 2008 which demands all Lottery winnings above Le 500, 000 are subjected to 10% Lottery tax. On this he said they have already deducted the said tax in all the winning categories for onward delivery to the coffers of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) and provide the tax receipt to winners.
Head of Events and Sponsorship, Arthur Bockarie Kallon said Africell money is the easiest to win regardless of the fact that it costs the subscriber twenty unit of air time for each prediction entry they made. He said Africell also generously gave subscribers twenty on-net Units for each prediction.
Alhaji Y. Koroma, the ten million star prize winner who came from the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood Mission in Makeni, on behalf of all winners thanked Africell for making him a millionaire at age 18, adding that all winners will be Ambassadors for the network any were and any time.
In giving the vote of thanks, Africell’s Head of Media, Nancy L. Joseph, thanked the lucky winners and encouraged those who participated but did not win to continue trying their better lucks in the network’s next promotion.
He boasts that the British Broadcasting Corporation has rated their company as the biggest, best and cheapest in the communications atmosphere of Sierra Leone.
