Police net catches one
Due to the alarming rate of theft in the east part of Freetown, police at the Eastern Police and Ross Road Divisions have raided various areas in the outskirts of the east past Monday July 2nd and succeeded in clamping down a few.
According to Crime Officer of the Eastern Police Division, Edison B. Tucker, during the joint raid, the police were able to arrest one Alhaji Kargbo of No 10 Patton Street with a TVS Victor Motor bike with registration number AGO145 at Lumley Street, central Freetown.
He said when he was interrogated, the suspect, Alhaji Kargbo confessed stealing the said property but argued that he only aided the act of one Sulaiman Koroma of No.4 Free Street. The officer said the accused tendered a life card and other important documents in an effort to justify his ownership of the property in question.
According to what obtains in Sulaiman Kargbo’s statement, the said bike belongs to one Mohamadu Sow of Lumley Street who entrusted the bike to him to be run for a commercial purpose, but the former had earlier reported that the said bike was missing.
Meanwhile, police sources said the suspect; Alhaji Kargbo is going to be charged with the offence of larceny to court today Monday, July 9th.
