As It Launches New 4G LTE Offers Africell Sets Another Pace
As communication technology keeps evolving and revolutionizing, Africell, Sierra Leone’s leading mobile operator, in order to keep its millions of customers abreast with cutting-edge innovations has launched its new 4G LTE offer network that would further improve on internet connectivity in the country. This lays to rest the attacks made on the company for advertising the service before activating it.
Joe Abass Bangura, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Africell, on Thursday 24th May 2018, told journalists that the company has come a long way from the introduction of the 3G Mobile Phone Technology on Friday 5th August 2011 to the introduction of the most recent and widely used technology in the world, the 4G LTE on 19th January 2018.
He further disclosed that since January, the company has been able to successfully roll out this technology in the capital and is presently doing so in other parts of the country. In this regard, he reiterated the call for subscribers to swap their 3G sim cards for the 4G LTE and to ensure that they use 4G compliant phones. Joe Abass Bangura said that the 4G LTE will not work with a 3G phone. Thus, he admonished subscribers to get 4G phones and enjoy the service. This service, he stressed is 10 times faster than the 3G.
To further encourage subscribers to use the 4G LTE Sim Cards, Africell has offered them free 4G Sims loaded with free 1GB data each. It also has on offer 4G Mifi loaded with 5GB data at a promotional cost of Le250, 000.00. For those subscribers who have already swapped their Sim cards, they will not be left out but will be given free 1GB data automatically.
Africell wishes to remind it numerous subscribers that:
- the 4G LTE (4th Generation Long Term Evolution) is the fourth biggest evolution of Mobile Phone Technology in the world and that since its introduction it has vastly increased the speed of data with a much smoother experience.
- The 4G LTE service works only on 4G enabled handsets and does not work on 3G Sim cards. Subscribers with 3G enabled handsets will thus have to swap their existing sims for a 4G Sim, free of charge.
- Subscribers will keep their same numbers and the only change, will be a new experience of speed and smoothness in data use.
- In spite of the vastly enhanced speed, 4G LTE does not increase the cost of your data service.
Subscribers are therefore urged to check their whether their phones are 4G enabled and request for their free 4G Sim card and get their free 1GB data. Subscribers are further reminded that the Africell Ramadan promotion is ongoing and they stand a chance to be the lucky winner of Le 50 million by simply buying top up using Africell money and have a chance for every Le1,000.
