Airtel Arbitrates Players for ARS Tournament

Speaking during the arbitration ceremony of Airtel Rising Stars at the National Stadium in Freetown, over the weekend, head of media hype in charge of the tournament, John Zonnevelo said the arbitration is done to scrutinize the players and ensure that they present authentic documents regarding player profiles and facts.

He said this was to ensure that the players are placed in permanent positions in the tournament and to encourage no room for replacing any player during the course.

However, three female teams are included in the tourney out of the 13 teams registered in the Western Area, thus bringing the teams total in participation to 87.

John said the Rising Stars talent spot tourney is also a pacesetter to help build Sierra Leone’s  U-17 team which will be taking part in the Nations Cup tournament slated for October-November later this year.

The Rising Stars tournament starts on Wednesday July 4th at the Brima Attouga Mini Stadium, and is expected to last for two months. The winner will represent Sierra Leone in the Pan-Africa Games slated for Kenya.

Some of the teams arbitrated include, Flex FC, Sunderland FC, Lioness FC, Soccer Queens FC, SLIFA FC, FC Kallon, and others.
