War Victims Cry over Reparation

Following the 50 years jail sentence slammed by the International Criminal Court of Justice on May 30th over the issue related to the decade long civil war in Sierra Leone, war victims have asked the government of Sierra Leone to consider their stake over the matter.

They argued that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommended a percentage quota for war victims, especially those properties ceased from convicts of the civil strife which are to be handed over to the Government of Sierra Leone must be seen considering the option of converting it to them as victims.

They cried that the aggressor Charles Taylor who was President of the Republic of Liberia fuelled the decade long civil war in Sierra Leone, they demanded to know whether the Government of Liberia  will pay compensation in monetary value or any other means to the Sierra Leonean war victims, or must it be that the jail sentence of Mr. Taylor is all that it is to it?

Contacting the Deputy Government Spokesman Abdulai Bayraytay of the Ministry of Information’s and Communications, he revealed that there are plans to file an appeal  and if the appeal is granted the question of building a case for war victims will follow quickly.
