Freetown, June 7 (SLENA):  The visiting African Development Bank (ADB) Task Manager, Dr. Osubor Gregory has commended the newly trained Sierra Leonean nurses on Peri-operative and critical nursing care upon completion of their training in Nigeria.

Dr. Gregory, as part of his mission to assess the Bank’s infrastructural work under the Strengthening District Health Services Project in Bo, Kenema, Bonthe, Port Loko and Tonkolili Districts, noted the brain drain in the medical profession in Sierra Leone, adding that the training of the nine Senior Nurses would go a long way in filling the necessary gaps for quality health care delivery services in the government health sector.

He congratulated the nurses for their high performance at the end of the training, hoping that the progress made would be evidenced based in the Ministry’s health facilities.

The Coordinator of the Strengthening District Health Services Project (SDHSP) and Director of Primary Health Care, Dr. Alhassan Seisay reminded the newly trained nurses that they have a role to play in building a sound system in their various units by imparting the knowledge gained to their juniors.

The nurses thanked the Government of Sierra Leone and the ADB for the support to upgrade their skills and pledged to live up to expectation, especially where the necessary equipment are provided.

Meanwhile, the Task Manager, Dr. Gregory and Team of professionals from the Health Ministry left for an assessment to the ADB project sites in the districts.
