Hon. Dauda Tombo Bangura Competition Commences With Victory for Farmer Lane FC
The much trumpeted and eagerly awaited Hon. Dauda Tombo Bangura Ten Million Leones rated football competition commenced on Sunday June 3rd at the MAFA playing field, Lumley.
In the opening match, defending champions of the Alieu Mohamed Sesay competition, Farmer Lane FC defeated Malama FC 2-0. Farmer Lane FC’s both goals were scored in the first half.
Right back, Ibrahim Conteh popularly known as “Bitolo” put Farmer Lane FC in the lead in the 12th minute from a 25 yard stunning shot.
Lamin Sesay made it 2-0 in the 39th minute within a 20 yard volley after a defensive blunder by Malama FC before the break.
Malama FC dominated the second half, but the no nonsense combative backline defense of Farmer Lane FC denied the opponent the goal mouth on each occasion.
The competition is organized by the Malama Amateur football Association (MAFA) and sponsored by Hon. Dauda Tombo Bangura of the ruling All People Congress (APC) Party.
16 Teams namely: Farmer Lane, Black Tank, Malama FC, Freetown Road, Sandia Drive, Seaside Rangers, Beach Road, Bona Tong, Crab, Cole Drive, Juba FC, Sundu FC, My Area FC, Amadu Lane, Babadorie ceremony was taken by madam Aminata Ishmail who will be aspiring as member of parliament under the umbrella of the ruling All People Congress (APC) Party. Other high profile dignitaries present in the opening ceremony include Ex-Leone stars defenders, Kemokai Kallon, Francis Zappa Koroma and popular politician and businessman, Aruna M.S Conteh widely Known as “Ambush Commander”.
Yesterday Black Tank engage Freetown Road FC but result was not known at Press time and this afternoon Crab Tong FC will engage Juba FC at the same venue.
