Health Minister Bags Award

The Minister of Health and Sanitation, Hon. Hawa Zainab Bangura (in photo) is currently in Norway attending the global Health and Gender Equality including Women and Children right and health meeting in Norway.

As part of her efforts to improve healthcare in Sierra Leone, with progress made by the Government, she was nominated Harvard Leader for 2012, and will be receiving the award and recognition at the Harvard Ministerial health Leaders forum at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government which started June 3^rd ending June 6^th this year.

The Hon. Minister is also among the selected Ministers of Health with a track record of Leadership in the health sector and shall be leading a panel discussion and at the same time presents a paper on the theme Leadership, Political analysis and new way of thinking.

The meeting is expected to be officially opened by the United States’ Secretary of state, Hilary Clinton and is expected to showcase the Norwegian effort in promoting global health and gender equality including Women, Children Right, health, Political involvement and commitment in view of reaching the millennium Development Goals in these areas.
