2012 Election is a Test for our Democratic Sustenance

As the 2012 November polls are speedily approaching, time and again political pundits keep asking this singular question ’’will their be a peaceful election?’’ or is our practicing democracy stable or sustainable according to the trend of directions it is heading? Yet no one can ascertain or subscribe to the awaiting faith. Some says it like the result of a pregnant woman whose gender of the fertilize embryo cannot be determined not until birth. This wallowing doubt can be traced way back as we attempt to turn few leap of pages in the history of our electioneering processes of this country. Each time we are approaching a general election, preachers of all kinds of negativities will embrace their cloak of transgression in igniting power tussle on areas of national pride and sanctity.

As many true patriotic Sierra Leoneans will say, the integrity of this nation rests squarely on the decisions we make as sober minded people of our motherland, others will argue on the angle of pessimism, but what appears right is the fact that we imbibe the spirit of our forefathers whose strength to over come resolved even in the midst of adversities and transnational slavery suffrage.

We have come a long way in achieving this hard won democracy, but each and every other hour we approach an election year many negative whistle blowers will throw punches of violence and national divide being the spill over effect awaiting. This hour an age is quite a sacred one to all, I mean all patriotic citizens. We stand at the brink of a test of our democratic resolved more especially at a time when we have a focus thinking development oriented President in the person of HE President Koroma.

The colors of our national pride will not be half mast predicted by many social political free thinkers but shall continue to fly high under the leadership of Ernest Koroma.

The decision to think what you feel like is one that is a God given right and to think in the direction of lost hope and cloudiness cannot distort the fact that we have grown to manage our experienced democratic system to the point we are scoring international recognitions. Many riotous and violent unfolding events are considered as sign of the evil plotters match planning to rob the harmonious detribalized society we have inherited from our fathers before us.

2012 will be an intense passionate election but it is one that will be violent free, for one singular reason that we the locals and constituents have of late learn to love our country more than our political affiliation and beliefs.
