Kenema District Council holds monthly council meeting
The Kenema District Council held their normal monthly Council meeting at the new Council Conference Hall, Nyandeyama Road, Kenema.
Addressing the meeting, the chairman of the Kenema District Council who doubles as chairman for the meeting welcomed all and congratulated all for taking an active part in the past agricultural fair.
Patrick Samu said that people are saying he is now the richest on earth based on the document he signed with the president of Leone 17.7 Bn which he said was not in physical cash but rather it was a document of agricultural tools worth of LE 17.7 Bn for the people of Kenema district of which part of the materials have been distributed while others await distribution.
He reiterated that last week the council was evaluated by the parliamentary finance committee of which the result was successful.
Councilor Peter M Gallia of ward 38 in the Lower Bambara chiefdom and chairperson of the education committee said that education is presently improving as compared to the previous year and that plans are on the way to provide a scholarship to a pupil with good grades in the past National Primary School examination. He said they have been given out scholarship over the years but the fort coming scholarship of the difference which the money is now available.
The director of education said that the delay in the distribution of scholarship is as a result of the manner in which the list of pupils was done of which it should be listed indicating the secondary schools they are attending but the primary schools were indicated and that as soon as they compiled the names of pupils and their secondary schools they will distribute the scholarship.
