SLPP Chairman accused of political witch hunt
The Chairman of Pujehun District Council, Mr. Sadiq Sillah (in photo) is standing accused of denying Paul Manda, who won the bid for the position of revenue collector in the Gbondapi Trade Fare, on the grounds that he is an APC supporter.
Mr. Mando was shortlisted with two other contenders and was announced as the most successful candidate to handle the position. He wrote in his protest letter: “Having considered myself, experienced and qualified for the position regarding the trade fare at Gbondapi I submitted my application in time and was shortlisted alongside two other contenders. The interviews were held on 05 October 2011 at the PDC hall in Pujehun on 31st October 2011. The Human Resource Officer of the council announced me (in a press release and on radio) as the successful candidate for the Gbondapi Trade Fare”.
He said prior to the announcement, the Pujehun District Chairman, Sadiq Sillah told him in the presence of many people that he excelled in the interviews and was selected. He said he is shocked to later learn that Mr. Alex M. Kamara has emerged the winner. He wrote the following: “I was informed that grades were signed in by both Chief Koroma and a District officer; and both clearly favoured Mr. Alex M Kamara – the indisputable choice of Chairman Sadiq Sillah. I am even informed that other grades were tampered with by Chairman Sadiq Sillah and his aides in order to make it possible for Alex M Kamara to win, against the wish of many key players at the PDC. As evidence at the crisis meeting in his office, Chairman Sadiq Sillah reprimanded the Chief Administrator, Councilor Alpha, the Deputy Chairman and others for not voting against me”.
