Child abductors dragged to court
Marie Kpaua and Aminata Bangura were arraigned before Magistrate Stevens of Court No 2, on charges of felony and conspiracy to steal a two year old child (name withheld) contrary to Section 56 of1861 Larceny of persons Act.
Testifying in court, parents of the stolen child, Kadiatu Bangura and Abubakarr Samura, said they were both asleep when the mother woke up at 2:00 am midnight to check on her daughter. She said she discovered that her daughter was missing. “I immediately alerted my husband and both of us searched through our premises without seeing her”, she stated.
Kadiatu Bangura said they made sure they shut all the doors and windows in their house before they went to bed and were shocked to later discover that their main door was wide opened and their daughter was not in her bed. “We both reported the matter to the Adonkia Police Station, where the police helped in searching for the missing child but could not discover where she was lodged.
“Later Aminata, the accused, informed Marie that she saw the missing child laying by a road side”, she stated. Marie asked Aminata, the status of the kid’s health which the latter replied was helpless, said Kadiatu Bangura.
The police later made arrest of the two suspects and charged them for the two offences above.
Defense lawyer for the two, Hannah Amed applied for their bail which was granted in the sum Le, 20 Million Leones each. The matter comes up again March 14.
