“I am ok with my team…..” CEO Claye

The owner of Division I side Sheffield United, Fred Claye, has told sports journalists inF reetown that he is happy with his team.

“The club has transformed itself to a household name of football in the country,” he said.

According to him, the club can boast of a structured system that comprises of a youth team and the senior team, whereas the junior team is currently taking part in an ongoing youth tournament inFreetown.

“My senior side has just won there first trophy at Lungi last month when they defeated Best of Lungi 4-1, a side that comprise of four football players from the English Premiership side Wigan Athletics football Academy and host of others whom are Sierra Leoneans.”

According to the Agriculturist and football lover, he said despite the Club is serving an alleged ban from the FA, his team will be taking part in several national and international football friendlies hopefully starting next year 2012.

“I intend to upgrade the team by bringing in top Premier league players to the club as a way of boosting the squad. Five players are on The Sheffield Project to forEurope to play professional soccer.” He said.

Claye maintained in four months period, one of the club’s brightest star, Emmanuel Stevens (Okiki), will play his professional football with English Conference Side Dulwhich Hamlet.

“I hope to do the same to all my players with the cooperation I get from them, but as of now, I am satisfy with there performance.”

Meanwhile, Claye’s plans are cut across the transformation of the Aberdeen playing field to one of a mini Stadium which will be catering for at least a 1500 spectators.

He promised the project will commence early next year, and said the field will serve as home ground for Sheffield United in Sierra Leone.

He dismissed media reports that the players have gone without salaries for about two months now.
