The acquittal and discharge of the President for the Sierra Leone Football Association [SLFA], Madam Isha Johansson and Secretary General, Chris Kamara on Monday 27th May, this year by Justice Reginald Fynn means that the two will resume their duties at SLFA and FIFA ban against Sierra Leone will be lifted very soon.
The embattled Johansson and Christopher Kamara were in High Court for allegations of corruption brought by the state through the Anti-Corruption Commission [ACC] under the leadership of Commissioner Ben Kaifala.
There was jubilation among sympathizers, supporters, relatives and Football stakeholders were singing songs of victory and dancing along the streets of Freetown and expressed gratitude to the court for displaying justice without fear or favor.
The prosecution was very zealous in providing evidence of the case of misappropriation of funds, abuse of office among other connected corruption offence but Johansson and Kamara pleaded not guilty to the eleven count charge.
The matter attracted football stakeholders, supporters, sympathizers and the world’s football governing body, FIFA and the Confederation of African Football [CAF].
The charges were first brought up in October twenty seventeen by former Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Ady Macauley but later when Francis Ben Kaifala resumed duties as the new ACC boss under the ruling, Sierra Leone Peoples Party [SLPP] Government.
The charges were reviewed and subsequently additional charges were added that sum it up to total of eleven charges.
