Zagalo bags player of the month award
Sierra Leonean foreign based player Alfred Sankoh, aka Zagalo, who plays his professional football in Norway for Tripilligen side IF Stromgodset, this month bagged the prestigious Player of the Month Award adrift a 756 September votes which declared him winner of the said trophy ahead of his Sierra Leonean counterparts in the person of Mohamed Medo Kamara Partisan Belgrade’s holding Midfielder who pulled 715 votes.
This is the second time in a row the tricky midfielder has bagged the award which he first won in August this year.
A ceremony for the award has been scheduled to take place in Freetown where Sierra Leone Football Journalist Association will hand the trophy to the versatile Midfielder while he enjoys his vacation next month.
Maddieu A. AT. Kabba, Public Relations Officer of the Newly Formed Association told Sierra Express in an interview that they decided to give such an award to the player in recognition of Sierra Leoneans plying their football trades abroad. “This is a clear show that we are appreciative of their tremendous efforts in putting our national pride above the map of footballing countries.
The award-winning player of the month posted on his Facebook: ‘’ I’m thankful to everyone more especially the sports journalists back home who thought it fit to design such a marvelous award in honour of our blood-letting services for our beloved Mama Salone. It is delightful. Great deal of respect to my colleagues, I’m grateful.”
Zagalo adds: ‘’ I owe it a lot in terms of pitch performance and goals scoring on my personal career. To the fans I love you all.
