Street garages are nuisances

The man with the beam is very disturbed at the utter lawlessness that is being exhibited by garage operators who leave their premises and work right in the middle of the streets.

One particular area in the city of Freetown where garage owners are so fond of parking and working on vehicles on the street is Kissy.

Virtually the stretch of road from Agip right down to the Shell on the Bye Pass Road is littered with garages that have now made both vehicular and human movement very difficult and the occurrence of accidents very common. They also spoil the roads because they spill oil on them and dig them.

The Searching Man knows for a certainty that the Police at Kissy are very aware of these street garages and that they receive reports daily from ordinary people on how these garages are disturbing them but they do nothing to tell the garage operators to remove them from the streets.

The beam carrier is appealing to the Police at Kissy to prevail on these lawless garage owners to remove their garages from the streets. He has vowed that he will know no rest until he sees these places cleared of these garages.

Motorbikes not respecting one way roads

If the man with the beam is asked to give an award to the most reckless, most lawless, most rebellious and most criminal group of people in this country he will give it to the commercial bike riders known as Okada riders.

Since their coming into existence these young men have rained untold terror on innocent commuters and pedestrians wherever they operate.

These young men are rough, they speed, they are always in a hurry, they over charge, they cause a lot of accidents, they steal from those who use their services and even from innocent bystanders, they are very dirty, and they do not respect traffic codes.

One other very bad thing which they do that so frustrates the Searching Man is their use of one way streets as two way streets. In this way they have hit a lot of unsuspecting pedestrians because they just appear from nowhere at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The man with the beam is however aware that we have men and women whose duty it is to control vehicular traffic, namely, the Traffic Police Officers and the Traffic Wardens.

He will be very happy if these officers will start enforcing the traffic codes very rigidly to make sure that Okadas stop using one way streets as two streets so that they will stop wounding and killing people.
